A television crew from Slovakia was in Cochrane over the weekend to showcase the community and the food that brings us together.

The series is called “Cestou necestou”, roughly translated as “Highway or Byway” and for the past 10 years it has travelled the world featuring over 130 countries.

The show features a local host for each location and Cochrane’s own Darina was showing off the Stampede pancake breakfast in Sunset Ridge on Sunday morning.

“This is their first time in Canada,” she says. “We are their third destination, so they already visited with people in Halifax, Montreal and now, Cochrane.”

“The show is about interviewing Slovak expats living somewhere and they're amazed how great [Cochrane] is towards community. We don't have anything like this back home.”

Cochrane was the last stop of a three-month shooting schedule that also included shoots in Indonesia, China, Japan and Kazakhstan.

The 12-episode season is expected to be released later this year in Slovakia and can be found on YouTube afterwards.
