The Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre has been rebranded Spray Lake Sawmills Centre, or SLS Centre, to reflect the evolution of the dynamic sports, recreation, and community facility in the heart of Cochrane.

While many talented athletes, including NHL players Mason Raymond and Dillon Dube, played at the centre, this vibrant community hub has become much more than a sports and recreation facility.  In recent years, the SLS Centre has also played host to everything from farmer’s markets to graduation ceremonies, banquets, trade shows, a circus, and more.

That's reflected in the SLS Centre's new slogan 'The Heart of the Community' which pays testament to the important role the facility plays in Cochrane and reflects its evolution over the past two decades.

Title sponsor, Spray Lake Sawmills, was one of the driving forces behind the establishment of the now 325,000-square-foot facility 21 years ago, and will continue its support during this new phase.

The centre is busier than ever with remarkable membership growth and annual visits now exceeding one million.

“This centre is not the same today as it was 20 years ago," says Erin Wagner, SLS Centre chief executive officer, in a news release issued this afternoon. "It has become so much more to our community, and we are truly grateful to continue our partnership with Spray Lake Sawmills. The new name along with the refreshed look and refined design of our new brand logo reflects the full breadth that our Centre has to offer."

More to follow tomorrow.
