The Cochrane Movie House was buzzing with excitement last night. The theatre was closed to the public as it was a special, invitation-only, screening of the Walt Disney movie Togo. The movie was filmed in and around Cochrane and there were a lot of locals who were involved and invited to the special screening.

Greg Mason, Vice President of Marketing for Walt Disney Canada explains the event and who was invited,

"This is very special, we are back in Cochrane where this all started and our crew was living here for a long period of time. So we have all the cast and crew that are in the area. Locals vendors, people who just helped out with the project and were very much involved. Our director, Ericson Core wanted to come back and be here. We also invited some special guests from the Cochrane Boys and Girls Club, some special government guests from Alberta which was such an incredibly supportive province for us on this project."

Togo is an upcoming American drama film that is set to debut on Disney+. The film was directed by Ericson Core, produced by Kim Zubick, written by Tom Flynn and stars Willem Dafoe. The film will debut on December 20, 2019.

The film is based on the true story about the 1925 serum run to Nome Alaska focusing on the lead sled dog Togo and his owner Leonhard Seppala.

Most of the dogs featured in the film are from The Snowy Owl Sled Dog Tours Inc. kennel located in Canmore, AB
