Construction on the Hwy. 22 bridge detour, about halfway between Springbank Rd. and Hwy. 8 is underway to allow for bridge construction along the original road alignment over the future diversion channel.

Once that detour is completed, there will be a posted speed reduction to 50km/h for approximately 500 metres of the highway.

Alberta Transportation says the public can expect minor delays for short periods during the construction of the detour and in particular, for the construction and paving of the tie-ins, before the traffic shift is implemented.

During the paving of the detour, flaggers will be present to assist in directing traffic and limiting travel disruptions.

It's all part of the changes required for the completion of the Springbank off-Stream Reservoir.
