Cochranites are an active lot, and you can bet we'll be one of the top contenders for being named Canada's Most Active Community by Participaction.

For the entire month of June, residents can register their minutes of physical activity in Participaction's Community Better Challenge.

Cochrane will be in the running for a $100,000 prize that can be used to further enhance our recreational activities.

"The Community Better Challenge runs June 1st to 30th, much like the bike-a-thon, so it's a great way, whether you're walking or wheeling or whether you're out hiking or playing a sport or playing with your family in the backyard, to always to put your minutes towards the Community Better Challenge," says Ashley Fox, vice-president of Cochrane Sport4Life.

Minutes can also be included when you're doing things like cleaning your house or yard work. A full breakdown is clearly explained by Participaction when registering your minutes.

This is the second time Sport4Life has led the charge for Cochrane. We placed 14th in Alberta and 40th in all of Canada.
