Parkinson Alberta is praising Cochrane for its enormous support at the the annual Flexxaire Parkinson Step and Stride.

The goal was set at $8,000 for the fundraising event, and Cochrane knocked it out of the park raising a whopping $18,000.

Parkinson Alberta Event and Volunteer Coordinator Pam Aldred says the event had great turnout.

"We had around 100 walkers show," she says. "Considering we had a very cold, rainy, and windy day, we were very excited about the community support from Cochrane, and everyone who came out to support the Step and Stride."

She shares Cochrane's amount raised is up from last year, but Parkinson Alberta always receives great help from the town.

"Cochrane has a fantastic committee that helps us organize the walk, and a tremendous amount of support for our client services, it's a very family oriented community that supports us."

She explains the money will go towards support programs, education, and funds for research to help those living with Parkinson disease and those who care for them.

Aldred invites all Cochranites to attend the next annual Flexxaire Parkinson Step and Stride on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017.
