The Master Chef fall program has gone virtual this year, and there's still time to register.

The popular cooking program put on by the Boys & Girls Club of Cochrane & Area is geared towards Cochrane teens.

Nola Hume is the Youth and Volunteer Coordinator with The Club and she says that The Master Chef Program has been a recent addition, and is an extension from their sold-out Junior Chef program.

"We added in the program because in Junior Chef we did include some teens in the younger years and we did go up to age 14," says Hume. "So we found that teenagers kind of wanted their own program."

The six-week cooking class is for teens from the age of 13 to 17, and Hume says that everything is included in this free program.

"Families are really appreciating our virtual programs," says Hume. "Since we've moved in that direction we have been able to deliver the food to their doorsteps. Everything is provided, the ingredients are provided and it's all safe. No contact delivery and kids can still get in on the fun."

Hume says that you don't actually have to be a Master Chef to take part in this program and teens can look forward to learning kitchen skills, as well as simple recipes.

"You don't need any experience at all, they are mostly beginner type recipes," says Hume. "It's meant to give kids those introductory skills in the kitchen, learning how to be able to make simple meals or snacks or help out their parents at dinner time."

The Master Chef program starts tomorrow, (Thursday, October 22) and there are still six spots available. The cooking class gets started at 5:30 pm and wraps up at 6:30.

Hume says that the Junior Chef Program for kids age nine to 12 was sold out in just over an hour.
