A Stoney Nakoda man faces five charges related to a retrofitted gun.

Cst. Jennifer Brewer says the charges resulted after the Stoney Nakoda RCMP responded to a call about a man with a gun on the Nation on Apr. 12.

Upon arrival, the police found the male with a BB gun nearby. The BB gun was examined and found to be retrofitted to fire .22 caliber bullets.

Robert Nelson Rabbit has been arrested and charged with careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm/prohibited weapon when knowing its possession unauthorized, and possession of a restricted firearm/prohibited weapon with ammunition without licence/registration

Rabbit is scheduled to appear in Cochrane Provincial Court on May 25.
