Applications are now being accepted from youth ages 14 to 19 for the 2021-22 Alberta Education Minister's Youth Council.

About 40 students from across Alberta will be selected to serve on the council, giving them a unique opportunity to provide direct input to the minister reflecting their diverse interests, backgrounds, and perspectives on education issues.

There will be at least 32 new members, and eight returning from last year's council.

The application deadline is Mar. 24. The application form can be found here

Students selected will serve a 10-month term that aligns with the school year. During the school year, the council attends three meetings. All COVID-19 precautions will be followed, which may mean virtual meetings.

Currently, Cochrane High student Elliot Strawson is serving on the council.
