Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre was buzzing on Friday, June 10, as 415 students from Holy Spirit School attended its second annual Health Fair.

Shawna Kerr-Smith, SLSFSC Events and Marketing Coordinator, says it's important to teach children how exciting fitness can be.

"There's so many different ways to be fit," she says. "We've got everything from badminton, rugby, to cricket. We're just showing them that fitness can be fun."

Kerr-Smith explains she's hopeful some of the students will find a fitness activity they really enjoy, and continue it.

"I know when I had other schools here in the past, one kid came out and tried rugby, and said it was awesome and she had never done it before. I think she is now playing rugby on the girls team."

The kindergarten to grade 6 students were pretty tuckered after the day filled with a long list of activities.

"It's basically getting them active, the day was 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with 8 different activities in the morning. Then in the afternoon they did a Zumba party with disco lights, and the whole nine yards."
