There are two events this weekend to make sure that all the animals who currently call the Cochrane and Area Humane Society home have everything they need well into 2021.

One of the events, a Virtual Bake Sale is running on Saturday, December 12, 2020. Lisa Kedian, Communications Coordinator for the Cochrane and Area Humane Society says that there is going to be so much to pick from.

“We're gonna have so many holiday goodies, we've got a lot of volunteers that are donating. I can't even tell you how many things but anything that you think that you would love to try or to eat over the holiday season because that's not the time to be on a diet, right?”

“We're gonna have a bunch of items that you can actually browse through right online. You'll be able to pay for your items online and then you just have to come to the shelter by 5 pm that same day to pick up”

While you can get some fresh baked goods, Kedian says that you can also help the Humane Society fill their wish list.

“We are running our annual “Stuff The Van” event and we need your help! Basically, we have a wish list available on our website and it's just got a multitude of items on there that the shelter animals could use.”

“What’s gonna be a little bit different this year is that our shelter van is going to be parked outside of Pet Valu Cochrane which is our sponsor for this event. From 9 am till 12 pm on Saturday, you can pop into Pet Valu and purchase the items directly from their store, and just stuff the van right there. Then after that, we'll be located right back in our parking lot from 12:15 pm to 5 pm.”

If you feel like donating from your home, there is also an online option.

“You can even visit our online pet supply store Norms Nook and all of the wishlist items will be featured there, it's contactless shopping and if once you purchase your items, we will go and stuff the van on your behalf so you don't even have to get off the couch, you can basically help us out very very easy. And that's one of the best ways that you can donate to the shelter.”

Both the Virtual Bake Sale and Stuff The Van events are running this Saturday and wrap up at 5 pm.
