Having your exotic animal groomed at the Calgary Avian & Exotic Pet Clinic, 2308 24th St. SW, Calgary, this Sunday (Jan. 19) between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. will help raise funds for two Australia wildlife foundations.

The clinic is accepting appointments right now for grooming services being provided by donation. For birds, you can have wings and nails groomed; for mammals, nails.

They also have a bake sale plus a bottle drive that will continue until at least Jan.31.

Donations are cash only and will be contributed to the Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors and NSW Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service (WIRES).

Rebekah Nicholls is the senior veterinary technician at the clinic and resides in Cochrane.

"I think it's a little closer to home for us being the kind of animals we normally work on," she says.

The clinic has many Cochrane clients and has been serving the Calgary area for over 35 years. It is the only clinic in Alberta exclusively dedicated to the well-being of exotic pet species

In the state of New South Wales alone, it is estimated 800 million animals have been impacted by Australia's bushfires.
