RCMP have charged a man with a long list of offences after chasing down a stolen vehicle.

Mounties caught up to the suspect vehicle along Highway 22 on Monday as it was heading towards Sundre.

It's believed the 2003 Black Hummer was stolen out of Calgary.

A traffic stop was initiated on Range Road 34 just north of Township Road 340, but the driver failed to stop and took off from police at a high rate of speed.

The stolen vehicle then continued northbound on Range Road 34 but RCMP located it about six kilometres north after it had rolled into the ditch.

Once police arrived, a man was seen fleeing on foot through a field.

Officers from Olds, Sundre and Innisfail were called in to help out along with the RCMP Police Dog Service (PDS).

The suspect was then arrested and charged with 18 offences including Flight from a peace officer, Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (x2), Possession of stolen property over $5000, Possession for the purpose of trafficking (CDSA) and Possess more than 30 grams of cannabis (CBA).

Forty-two year-old Alan Ray McAbee of Rimbey was remanded to custody and is set to appear in Didsbury Provincial Court on Jan. 24, 2022.
