A 36-year-old Calgary man was pulled from his burning vehicle after it rolling into the ditch earlier Aug. 2.

Charges are anticipated for the motorist, who was dangerously driving towards oncoming vehicles on Hwy. 22 north of Cochrane.

With RCMP in pursuit, three oncoming vehicles took evasive action to avoid collision with the suspect's vehicle.  A fourth vehicle, a semi, attempted to avoid a collision but the suspect vehicle clipped the side of the semi, entered the ditch and rolled.  The suspect's vehicle then caught fire.

Police arrived on the scene immediately.  Alberta Sheriffs were also on scene and were able to extinguish the fire, while RCMP officers removed the driver from the vehicle.  The driver was transported by EMS to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

No one in any of the other vehicles was injured.

An RCMP collision analyst attended the scene. The investigation is ongoing and charges are anticipated.
