Three men from Morley are currently facing charges after the stolen vehicle they were in was located thanks to the help of 'Onstar'.

On Thursday (March 22), Cochrane RCMP located the vehicle travelling on Highway 1 near Morley after receiving a call that a client's vehicle was in motion from Onstar. Corporal Troy Savinkoff shares while this isn't a common occurrence the great thing about Onstar is they provide ongoing GPS updates.

"As the vehicle was driving we were able to get a significant amount of police response into the area. Simultaneously we were able to have Onstar deactivate the vehicle so quite literally as police are getting behind the vehicle turning on their lights we have Onstar deactivating the vehicle and basically removing all power from it so they are able to steer but it is not able to accelerate in any way and were able to arrest the three suspects in the vehicle."

Inside the vehicle officers located several weapons and other stolen property; the three men are now facing multiple charges including weapon and property offences, as well as breaches of conditions.

No names are being released as of yet as Cochrane RCMP is working closely with other agencies to assist with offences related to these individuals. "Many of these suspects jump from jurisdiction to jurisdiction when committing a crime. It's important that all agencies form close partnerships to ensure that we are sharing information and helping each other reducing crime in our communities."
