Your vote could go a long way in helping a musician who spent her formative years in Cochrane.

Sydney Mae is one of the musicians vying to advance to the next round in the Toyota Searchlight.

She's hoping to build upon the success of her recently released song "Feet First."

The song has received just shy of 101,000 streams internationally on Spotify alone, and at one point became the #1 most played sound on Stingray Music.

There are numerous entries from across the country in the annual Searchlight that draws attention to budding Canadian talent.

Only 100 songs advance to the second round, 50 of which will be chosen by popular vote. The other 50 will be selected by the panel of music industry judges. The voting site allows one vote in a 24 hour period per computer.

This round of voting ends Thursday, May 20 at 1 p.m. Mountain Standard.

Sydney Mae is a Canadian award-winning recording artist who recently moved to the Toronto area.

"Feet First" is a contemporary song about vulnerability and how it's not always going to be a win to the next chapter, but that’s okay.

"In my own experience, sometimes I need to lose something, or lose sight of something in order to get to where I need to be,”  she says.

The song displays her mesmerizing vocal talent and songwriting skills.
