Cochrane's fun, wacky golf tournament is getting ready to tee off on October 1.

The 9th annual Monumental Tournament of Aces will be teeing off at the Links of Glen Eagles, in support of two worthy organizations: RancheView School Fundraising Society and Cochrane Search and Rescue.

Organizer, Kelly Kimmett, says the golf tournament is unorthodox for the 180 golfers who take to the greens.

"It is golf for non golfers. You get three shots, it's like getting two do overs on each hole. You take the same three shots at each hole, there's three pins on each green. Some actually, there's pins in the sand trips or off of the greens so you don't even have to hit a good shot."

Kimmett adds with all of the holes turned into short holes, anyone can be a winner.

"There is one hole that is 150, that is the one we have to to play full length for the lease on the car, but the rest are all under 120 yards and as short as 60 yards."

Not only participants vying to get a hole in one, but there is an opportunity to play some other crazy games.

"We call it the 'Golf Carnival', there's a bunch of weird games we play using golf kind of as the background. There is a combination golf/hockey hole, there's 10 people in a group too. There's no chipping, no putting, no keeping score...just hit the ball and go pick it up."

The Kimmett's are hoping to raise $80,000+ in support of their two benefitting charities with most monies raised coming from the auctions.

"We have ranged as high as $120,000, but normally around the $80,00 mark."

They have limited golfing spots available and are still accepting donations/sponsorship. If you would like to get involved with the monumental tournament you can do so here.
