Rally cars will be taking over downtown Cochrane this weekend as the 2020 Cochrane Winter Rally kicks off. Teams and their race cars will be lining historic downtown Cochrane on March 7, 2020 to showcase their impressive vehicles before they race on Sunday.

The rally races will be on Sunday, March 8, 2020 and are held just north-west of town along forestry and oil roads. This event is the first of 2020 and is a qualifying event for all the major local Championships.

Coordinator for the 2020 Cochrane Winter Rally, Amanda Ann says that people are often surprised when they see a rally car up close. “They’re a bit different then what most people think a race car looks like because you take out the entire interior and you just have the safety equipment inside. It’s exciting for people who might not want to make the trek to the races.”

“On Sunday, it’s one car on the road so there are no people crashing into each other and stuff, It is more a test of skill. Whoever at the end of the day has the fastest time through all of the roads wins the event.”

The teams and rally cars will be on display in Cochrane starting at 10 am on Saturday and more information on The 2020 Cochrane Winter Rally can be found here.
