Cochrane is in store for a weekend full of laughs and treasure hunting, all for a great cause.

Royal Lepage is hosting Cochrane's Biggest Block Party & Garage Sale this weekend at the Cochrane's Lions Events Centre. The annual event is in support of Cochrane’s local women's shelter Big Hill Haven.

The 12th annual event had to take a few years off due to the pandemic, but Debbie Leah with Royal Lepage says they are coming back strong.

“We're back bigger than ever. we're collecting donations from the community, selling donations out to the public, and of course, collecting money for our local shelter.”

100 per cent of the proceeds will be donated to Big Hill Haven. The previous event in 2019 raised over $5,000 from the sale for the Cochrane and area women's shelter.

A local artisan craft sale is a brand new feature for the annual event. There will also be raffle prizes, food, and a kid's shopping corner.

Doors open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. for the event this Saturday.

“In addition to the garage sale, which we've been running year after year. We are having a comedy show which is going to be held Friday night.”

“It’s an amazing deck of comedians that are coming to perform for us! They are spectacular. It’s a show that you actually do not want to miss.”

Paul Kuster is headlining the Friday night Comedy show, also hosted at the Cochrane's Lions Events Centre. The night will feature several more comedians including Michael Armstrong, Tarah Buchanan, Chris Wipf, Tehseer Hussain, Wil Collison, Don Filipchuk, and Arvind Chaudhary.

Tickets are still available for the Friday event and a silent auction will also be featured during the Comedy night.
