If you're looking for some great Christmas gift ideas, or maybe even a treat for yourself, the Cochrane Public Library has some great options.

They launched their 'Mystery Bag Book Sale' earlier this week.

Head Librarian and Assistant Director of the Cochrane Public Library, Andrea Johnston says that they wanted to give Cochranites options to give the gift of reading this holiday season, in a safe way.

"We had to cancel our book sale for the spring of course because of COVID," says Johnston. "We still wanted to offer something creative to Cochranites, a way that they could give the gift of reading for Christmas, but we also wanted to cut down on the touchpoints."

Johnston says that with a  wide range of literary works, there's something for everybody in their inventory of 'Mystery Bags.'

"We have grab bags of books and they're all based on genres," says Johnston. "So, there's Mystery Bags, there's Children's Bags, there's Romance. They're all classified by genre."

Johnston says that shoppers will even be able to find something for the movie lover on their shopping list.

"We also have DVD grab bags as well," says Johnston. "So, if there are avid movie watchers out in the community they can come by and grab one of those."

The DVD bags are put together based on age, with family-friendly options available.

All purchases are by donation and shoppers are encouraged to "Take what you want and pay what you like" for them.

All proceeds from the 'Mystery Bag Book Sale' will go directly back to supporting our local library.

The Cochrane Public Library is located at 405 Railway Street West, in Cochrane.
