The Cochrane Art Club is holding its first Fine Art Sale of the season on Saturday, Oct. 1, just one month after this year's first club meeting.

Laura Procunier, President of the Cochrane Art Club says they've brought some exciting new members on board, and the show will have an assortment of new painting styles.

"It's quite a variety of artists and art types," she says. "In the past we've always had small works, and this year we're having bigger works. So there's a little something for everybody to come pop by and see, and celebrate Arts and Culture week."

Procunier shares supporting local artists, instead of buying from a big box store is rewarding for both the artist and customer.

"You can always support Bed Bath and Beyond, but everybody's got that piece of art. When you support a local artist you can see the joy and emotion they're putting into their work. It's just not stamped out on an assembly line, it's true art. A lot of the local artists do a lot of local scenes, so it speaks to local patrons more readily than something that's been cookie cuttered across."

She says the Cochrane Art Club is off to a roaring start on its business of being an artist theme, adding the club is still accepting new members this year.
