It marks the beginning of summer, it is the TD Summer Reading Club held at the Cochrane Public Library.

The program is officially started but there is still time for kids to register and get their reading notebook to start reading and earn prizes.

Jessie Pepin, Assistant Director at the library says, "It's a really important way of fighting the summer slump that might keep kids back from being at grade level when they get back in September."

Once kids register online or in-person at the library they just need to start reading the booklet and you get a prize for every page you finish. Once you complete a booklet, you receive a ballot to win a grand prize at the end of the summer.

Pepin says for prizing there is some very cool stuff including Minecraft Lego kits, some coding board games a gravity maze, and laser tag tickets and the library is working on getting even more prizes.

The theme for the TD Reading Club this year is Myths and Legends and Pepin says the library will be offering programming around that theme all summer long and you can find the dates and times for that in the summer program guide

The TD Summer Reading Club is Canada's biggest, bilingual reading program for kids of all ages, interests, and abilities.

It is a free program, you don't even need a library card.
