Cochrane's Ty Mueller got off to a strong start with the return to play of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL).

Mueller scored the Sherwood Park Crusaders' lone goal unassisted in a 3-1 loss to the Bonnyville Pontiacs, Mar. 12, before notching one and assisting on another in a 4-1 rematch win.

It was the first win for the Crusaders this season. They had only mustered one point in an overtime loss in their first four games before the season was paused in mid-November.

The two teams meet again this weekend and in four other games before changing their cohort.

In Western Hockey League action, Cochrane's Caleb Willms scored his first of the season with the Medicine Hat Tigers in a 4-2 win over the Calgary Hitmen on Mar. 12. The Tigers followed it up with a 6-2 win over the Hitmen on Saturday night.

Willms has three points in the first seven games of the season.

Friday night, the Tigers are at home in the Co-Op Palace in a home-and-home series against the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
