The Medicine Hat Tigers started slow but finished strong in its opening two games of the Alberta division of the Western Hockey League (WHL).

In their Feb. 26 season opener, the Tigers were down 4-1 to the Red Deer Rebels early in the third before finding their form and tying it up 4-4 with 41 seconds remaining in regulation. Cam Hopwo scoring his third of the night at the 1:59 mark of overtime to give the Tigers a 5-4 win. 

The Tigers turned it on in their home opener with four unanswered goals in the first. The Rebels looked to be on a rebound with two goals, but the Tigers shut them down, notching three more for a 7-2 win.

Cochrane's Caleb Willms had a pair of assists. 

The Tigers start a home-and-home series in Edmonton against the Oil Kings on Friday night before heading back to Co-Op Place in Medicine Hat for game two.
