The annual tournament of all the AA Bow Valley Timberwolves team continues to be a popular destination for visiting hockey teams.

Mark Hanna, AA director for Cochrane Minor Hockey, credits the Timberwolves families for the success of the tournament for peewee, bantam and midget teams.

While the bantam and midget teams came up a little short, the peewee Timberwolves went undefeated in all their games, leading up to an overtime win over the Taber Golden Suns in the final.

In all, 22 teams participated over the weekend, including a Yellowknife, NWT team.

It continues to be popular tournament that attracts higher level teams, says Hanna. For the bantam division, there was a waiting list.

"It was fantastically run. We had a lot of great compliments from visiting teams," says Hanna.

Now a month and a half into the season, the Timberwolves teams are showing strong signs of development.

The peewee team remains undefeated in their first 11 games of the South Central Alberta Hockey League with 10 wins and a tie. The bantams have been displaying a strong work ethic and character game in, game out, says Hanna, and they're starting to put together some wins.

The midgets have been facing some adversity this year when it comes to wins, but they're coming along.

On Friday night (Nov. 22), the bantams are hosting the West Central Tigers at the Cochrane Arena. Game time is 7 p.m.

That same night, the midgets are at home against the Foothills Bisons. Game time is at 7:45 p.m. at Totem One in the SLS Family Sports Centre. Sunday they're off to Airdrie to face the Lightning.

The peewee Timberwolves are heading to Lethbridge to play the Hurricanes Red team on Saturday. They continue their road trip on Sunday in Cranbrook, where they play the BP Wings.

The peewees return home to the Cochrane Arena on Nov. 30 to take on the Okotoks Oilers Black before heading to Airdrie to the next day to play the Lightning Red.
