With gas prices so high, everyone is looking for ways to save a little money on fuel.

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at Gas Buddy, says there are a few factors to keep in mind.

"First thing in the morning, sometimes late at night, you can beat some of the price adjustments, but you know, as of late, prices do continue to go up, so it's hard to balance this when the overall market trend remains upward."

He recommends potentially driving a little slower to stretch out fuel mileage.

"Driving more conservatively, more defensively, trying to avoid heavy acceleration, obviously will stretch your fuel mileage, so that's certainly good to do."

Diving into a little research could also help you get the best bang for your buck.

He explains that prices can be different from one area to another and knowing where to fill up could be a game-changer.

"If you're heading out on a road trip, always shop around."
