A Fire Advisory has been issued for the Town of Cochrane effective at 12 noon, Friday, July 29.

Cochrane is now at the Yellow Phase of the fire hazard levels.

The fire advisory means that open fires are allowed but residents are encouraged to be extra careful. For example, soaking the area adjacent to the fire pit prior to use and of course, ensuring the fire is cool to the touch before you leave.

Fire Inspector Jeff Avery says, "We knew this was coming with the temperatures in the 30s and we always get those westerly winds coming through Cochrane that's drying everything out fairly quickly so the Chief's Office deemed it was time to put a Fire Advisory on."

Avery says just please use extreme caution when enjoying an outdoor fire pit this coming long weekend.
