In recognition of Queen Elizabeth II, the Town of Cochrane will be respecting the National Day of Mourning in Canada on Sept. 19.

The Jack Tennant Memorial Bridge will be lit purple in honour of Queen Elizabeth and flags will remain at half-mast until sunset on Monday.

Municipal facilities will be closed, however, there will be no disruption of essential services. The council committee-of-the-whole meeting scheduled for Sept. 19 has also been cancelled.

The town issues a statement, saying Cochrane council and staff are encouraged to honour the Queen’s passing in the manner of their choosing, including viewing the national commemorative ceremony to honour the life and service of Her Majesty.
