The Rocky Mountain Rotary Club of Cochrane's second annual Toys4Kids campaign is now on. The initiative kick-off last year to help local Cochrane families that are in need during the holiday season.

“This one really hits home for me because I just find there are so many families that struggle at Christmas time,” says Nicole Kimpton with the Rocky Mountain Rotary. “This has always been something of a dream for me. I just want to be like Santa Claus or Mrs. Claus, I guess, and that's where the toy drive came from.”

Donations will be accepted until Wednesday, December 14th. Toys, gift cards, and cash (that will be used to buy new toys) can be dropped off at Cochrane Toyota and the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre.

“We have different nominees from ages zero to 18 years. Some things that the families last year were looking for were a pair of boots or some clothes and kids' toys that are brand new.”

“We then deliver them out to the families and it's a really magical time.”

The Rocky Mountain Rotary Club is reaching out to the community for nominations of families and kids in need this holiday season. The gifts will be hand delivered before Christmas Day to ensure everyone is taken care of this holiday season.

Donations will be also accepted during the ringette tournament in Cochrane from Dec. 9 to Dec. 11.

“The kids from the Cochrane Rockies Ringette Association come volunteer to help deliver the gifts. They absolutely love it and I think that that was a really magical thing for the kids to see.”
