This week motorists will have to contend with a potentially stressful traffic issue as Canadian Pacific Railway will be doing work on the railway crossings in town.

CPR will be removing the siding track at the 5th Avenue and River Avenue crossings.

The reason for the closure and work on the Centre Avenue crossing has not been identified by the town or CPR.

The crossings will be closed one at a time from Tuesday, May 3 to Tuesday, May 10.

The work will begin at the 5th Avenue crossing tomorrow, Tuesday, May 3 at 7 a.m. Signage and traffic controls will be in place at that time.

It is anticipated it will take two days to complete the work for each crossing.

The tentative closure schedule is as follows:

Tuesday, May 3, and Wednesday, May 4 –  5th Avenue crossing closed

Thursday, May 5 and Friday, May 6 – Centre Avenue crossing closed

Saturday, May 7 and Sunday, May 8 – River Avenue crossing closed

Monday, May 9, and Tuesday, May 10 are scheduled extra days in case more time is needed to complete the work.
