TD Tree Days is all about giving back to the community through environmental stewardship.

Cochrane's third annual TD Tree Day brings TD employees, customers, families, and members of the community together for a day of replenishing our urban forests.

Kayla-Marie Rietze, TD Manager of Customer Service and Event Site Coordinator, says it is an important goal for TD to give back to the environment.

"As much as people think as big companies we burn through all the trees and the paper, we actually do quite a bit of environmental back ground."

Being a business that goes through a lot of paper, Reitze adds it's great to give back a sheet or two.

"It's nice to be able to give back. It's important we have the trees, a lot of people forget how important the trees really are."

The event also is a great way to bring the community together.

"We are always open to volunteers, we actually want more volunteers to come out. The more the merrier; last year we had about thirty volunteers and this year we're looking at about 15-20 volunteers so far. We're always happy to have people in the community come out and help."

In previous years, TD Tree Days has provided and planted 800 trees in the community of Sunset Ridge and this year they will be planting another 300.

"Right up in Sunset across from St. Tim's High School, right there is a little pond area. We've been trying to fill that area back up with trees since the development took them out, we've been planting more in there."

If you have time on Saturday, September 17 you can join the crew from TD and help them plant.

Th event runs from 11 am until 2 pm, you can either show up at the site or register on line here.
