Two former Bow Valley Timberwolves from Cochrane were selected in today's Western Hockey League (WHL) prospects draft.

The Saskatoon Blades selected Fraser Leonard, 15, first in the fourth round, and 68th overall.

Goalie Ben Polhill was selected fourth in the tenth round by the Tri-City Americans.

Leonard currently plays defence for both the U16 and U18 Edge School prep teams. In 12 games with the U16 team, he has one goal and 12 assists. He's appeared in eight games with the U18 team.

Polhill, also 15, has appeared in a total of 10 games this season for the Edge School's U16 and U18 prep teams. He has eight wins and three shutouts on the season so far and carries a 0.935 save percentage with the U16s and 0.905 percentage with the U18s.

Both played much of their minor hockey in Cochrane.

In total, 214 players were selected by WHL clubs, including 119 forwards, 71 defencemen, and 24 goaltenders.

Players eligible for the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft were 2006-born players residing in Alberta, B.C., Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories, Yukon, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
