The highways may be quieter, but the speed limits are still in effect.

Two young men got a stern reminder of this around 1:30 p.m. this afternoon when they were pulled over by members of Cochrane RCMP traffic services. The two vehicles were clocked doing 199 kph in a 110 kph zone when travelling eastbound on Hwy. 1 between Canmore and Cochrane.

Both drivers, a 24-year-old male from Calgary and a 21-year-old male from High River, were issued summons to attend Cochrane Provincial Court on Aug. 21.

"Even with COVID-19, Alberta Integrated Traffic officers continue to be on the look-out for unsafe driving behaviours," states RCMP Superintendent Gary Graham, who is in charge of Alberta RCMP Traffic Services.
