The serious accident that took place on Highway 1 on Tuesday evening saw two people taken by ground ambulance to the hospital.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. Cochrane RCMP, EMS, and Rocky View County Fire Services were dispatched to a serious collision on Highway 1.

Corporal Susan Richter says, "It was initially reported that an SUV and semi collided on Highway 1 west of Highway 22. It was initially reported that there was one person who was unresponsive and possibly deceased. When emergency crews arrived on the scene it was determined that the two occupants of the SUV had suffered serious injuries but they were not life-threatening. 

The semi-driver was uninjured. 

Weather and road conditions were the main contributing factor to the collision. 

RCMP also report that between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Cochrane and Rocky View County emergency crews responded to approximately 15 collisions due to the poor road conditions and limited visibility.
