The 49th Labour Day Parade was a great success.

Thousands upon thousands of people lined the streets of Cochrane cheering on local businesses and organizations that serve the community.

Perfect weather complimented the event which featured the Cochrane Activettes pancake breakfast, a ton of pre-parade entertainment, and an opportunity to check out the folks from STARS and Prostaid Calgary.

Marina Chabbert, President of Cochrane Area Events Society, believes this may have been the largest parade yet. Giving thanks to not only great volunteers and sponsors, Chabbert says businesses and organizations really out did themselves. "There is a lot of companies that this is their way to show their appreciation back to the public, they really put an out of the ordinary effort into their floats and show they care and are part of their community."

It will be difficult to trump this year's event, but Chabbert says they have lots of ideas in store for their 50th anniversary in 2018. "We will make it really special, really big because we want as great of a show if not better. We will hopefully be doing a lot more pre-parade entertainment perhaps post parade entertainment as well, just have a lot of activities throughout the route and special floats that we will encourage and try to come in from Calgary or neighbouring companies that perhaps have associations with Cochrane."

Chabbert is looking forward to seeing everyone return in 2018.
