Cochrane's Holy Spirit School's brand new playground is almost ready to entertain kids of all ages.

After two years of fundraising the playground committee is in the final stages of work before final approval.

Lucy Lovelock, Holy Spirit Playground Committee Member, says they battled some cold, rainy, weather initially but their volunteers were fantastic.

"We had people come out on the Saturday that were just supposed to be the Saturday and then stayed Sunday and Monday, and we were done by Monday night. We had volunteers for the Tuesday and I had to call them and say thank you for volunteering but we don't need you."

At one point the committee did debate whether to pay for the install or do it themselves to save some money.

"We were kind of split on the committee as to whether we should do an install which was supervised or just have them come in and do it. It was $30,000 for them to come and do it $15,000 if we had the one guy come and just did volunteers . Most of us one wanted to go build, it was part of finishing off what we started; it is kind of cool to say you have been a part of that."

Although there have been a couple of hiccups, overall, everything is coming together perfectly.

The kids are super excited and Lovelock shares hopefully it will be ready for play beginning of October.

"The kids keep looking through the fence and asking, 'can we play tomorrow?'"
