The Cochrane Classic Car Club certainly provided lots of eye candy for vehicle lovers last Sunday (September 8), at the 'Fall Colours Show N Shine'.

Ray Kaczmer, President of the Club says although they were hoping to report a record number of vehicles on-site, Mother Nature was not cooperating. "We had about 230 vehicles. About midway through the morning, we were a little disappointed in that we were hoping for bigger numbers, but as we reflected on it, we thought it was an outstanding show. We could have had the potential with good weather to get 300 to 400 cars. Imagine hopefully in the future, when we get better weather, and you get 400 vehicles there. We would fill the downtown core completely, and that would really be impressive."

Still estimating that a few thousand people took in the show over the course of the day, Kaczmer says owners always field lots of questions and not many leave disappointed. "People always try to identify the cars; they want to find out if you modified them, the guys always want to know what the engine is and the horsepower, and some even want to know the value of the vehicle which some of us will share...and some of us won't."

Being a club with young members and old members, new cars and old cars, Kaczmer says fostering the love of cars for all ages is important. Hosting weekly meets, when weather prevails, the Club also strives to boost our local economy. "We do promote the businesses as well, but we're really just trying to promote Cochrane as a tourist destination and making it enjoyable for people in the community too."

If you missed the show on Sunday, the Cochrane Classic Car Club will also be showcasing some vehicles this evening (September 12) at the Cochrane Street Market, planning a road trip out to the Water Valley Saloon on September 19th, and be at Mr Mike's on September 26th.

Lastly, Kaczmer invites any vehicle owner to come out to their Fall Poker Rally this Sunday (September 15). "We will be gathering in the North Star Ford dealership at about 11 in the morning. By noon, we'll depart as a group and head to Bragg Creek where we'll stop and draw another card from the deck, and then we'll go through the Foothills. We will make our way down to the Millarville Race Track, have another card. Back to Bragg Creek for another card, and then back to Cochrane. This Poker Rally is where you collect cards and the best hand splits the pot. So you buy-in at the beginning, $10 for one hand or $25 for three, and we'll be supporting the Veteran's Food Bank."
