After four long years, the community of Jumping Pound unveiled it's new park.

A small committee has been working tirelessly to fundraise, grant write, and collect bottles in support of bringing community members a new playground.

Committee member Dawn- Marie Cinnamon says the community raised about $120,000 plus $75,000 in grant monies from the Alberta government.

"Both of our developers pitched in as well as some of the local show homes did but a lot of this came from the silent auctions, fundraisers we did, and the BBQ."

Cinnamon says the developer donated land and would have built a tot lot, but the community was looking for something more.

"We realized we didn't want a tot lot we actually wanted a great family space and park that would draw kids into being outside and having physical activity. We wanted to do something big and make it a great space."

The new park features a cool web design, which is one of a kind.

"We are fortunate that the one piece of equipment we have, our spider web with our fort up top the slide, is the first piece of equipment like that in North America; it is a brand new piece from BDI Equipment, and we were the first to put it in."

The committee solicited a few different companies before settling on the final design which they feel encompasses play perfectly for kids ages 2-12.

Cinnamon is hopeful all Cochranites will come and check out their new place to play.

"We want it to be a Town of Cochrane park, we have already had kids from the Bow Ridge area, and we are seeing people drive up and coming to take a look. So we are super happy about that!"

The committee is continuing to fundraise as it works alongside the town to hopefully add in picnic tables and benches to finish off the area.
