The first multidenominational Walk of the Cross since 2019 is being held on Good Friday (Apr. 15).

It begins at 10 a.m. from the green area remaining at 2nd Ave. and 2nd St. near the Hwy. 1A construction zone and ends at the Community Cenotaph next to the Royal Canadian Legion, where a cross will be erected.

Pastor Matthew Butler, of the King's Gate, says it's organized by the Cochrane Ministerial and, other than during the peak of the pandemic, has been held annually for well over 25 years.

"We mainly walk down main street (1st St. W) and stop at different places, do readings of scriptures and prayers, and reflect on the journey that Christ made on his way to being crucified."

He says there will be 11, possibly 12 stops along the way.

"Anybody is welcome to come and walk with us," he says. "It will be cool so dress warm, but please come on out."
