It's been a long-time coming.

But, the Jack Tennant Memorial Bridge will officially be open to traffic in just a couple of weeks.

The Town of Cochrane has planned a small COVID-19-safe grand opening celebration for Oct. 15.

After the ceremony and speeches from dignitaries, there will be a light show and a fireworks display that is expected to be visible from most parts of east Cochrane.

Construction on the $53 million project started in August 2018.

This new bridge includes on-street bike lanes, a lookout, and a separated multi-use pathway that connects with the existing pathway system.

The bridge will add another much-needed south to north connection option for residents.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will go from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
