Cochranites looking to get a head start on their holiday shopping will be able to do so at the local Legion starting this Thursday, October 22.

The Cochrane Legion will be holding a small tabletop vendor sale every Thursday from now until Christmas with a focus on small local home businesses.

Organizer Betty Mazurek says that the shopping events will feature a maximum of four businesses each week, and aims to have a wide variety of products on hand.

"They can sell Tupperware, Pampered Chef, arts and crafts, Pure Romance, jewellery any kind of thing they would normally sell at the local markets that they are not able to because of COVID," says Mazurek.

Mazurek says that the vendors will change from week to week and tables will be booked on a first come first serve basis.

"If a vendor wants a table it will be 25 dollars," says Mazurek. "If anybody's interested in getting a table they can contact Kim at the Cochrane Legion."

The event is open to everyone with COVID-19 health and safety measures in place. Mazurek says that all shoppers are required to wear a face covering.

Mazurek is hoping that the weekly vendor sale will be beneficial to all parties involved.

"We hope it will benefit both of us, you know the vendors and the Legion," says Mazurek. "Of course we'll have the bar open and there will be food available. We're really looking forward to doing this as a community effort."

Starting this Thursday, you can pop into the Cochrane Legion for some retail therapy, snacks and perhaps even cross off some items on your Christmas shopping list.

The tabletop vendor sale will take place each Thursday from 6 pm to 9 pm at the Legion, located at 114 5th Avenue.
