Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre (SLSFSC) is preparing for the grand opening of the new aquatic/multi-sport centre with a variety of fitness passes.

While prices have not quite been confirmed, Robin Michell, General Manager SLSFSC, says the aquatic centre will be added into the options.

"We are going to have new membership rates that will start to take effect. They are going to have an option of purchasing an aquatic membership, which means aquatics only. You can have a fitness, which is currently offered as a SLSFSC membership, and an option to have an all inclusive. It will give families, individuals a little more choice as to what they are looking for."

For those individuals who like a deal, Mitchell shares if you purchase an annual pass by March 31 you will have access to aquatics as well for the year.

One area the centre struggles with is the offer of free child care included in membership packages. When construction started on site, SLSFSC offered free child minding  as an incentive/bonus for the construction inconvenience but fast forward 18 months, the rec centre has to look at whether that is or can be a viable option.

"As we move forward we are forced to look at the child minding moving to a larger space and we need to make sure that we can as a user pay model cover all our costs. One of the pieces we are running into right now is the sheer volume of people taking advantage of it, which is terrific, but we can't accommodate the masses. We are looking at what a balance can be; whether that is charging for it, whether that is providing a certain amount of free hours per family/individual throughout the week. We are exploring a few options that we think will work with our clients. Anything we do we will look to try and bring in around September of this year."

All of SLSFSC memberships include a wide variety of drop in activities with the various membership packages. Prices on the passes will be released closer to end of February, early March as the first phase opens up.
