The heavy snowfall has forced at least two outdoor sports to call a timeout on their season.

Both the Bow Valley Bobcats and Cochrane Cobras girls soccer teams have had tonight's games postponed in what was scheduled to be the last week of regular play in the Rocky View league.

The long-anticipated match between the undefeated Cobras and Springbank Phoenix has been moved to next Monday (Oct. 7) in Springbank. Also next Monday, the Bobcats will play the Bert Church Chargers in Airdrie.

Thursday night home games will go ahead as scheduled, at least at this point. The Bobcats take on the Chestermere Lakers on the SLS Legacy Sports Field and the Cobras face the George McDougall Mustangs on the Rangers' east field.

Quarterfinals are scheduled to begin next Tuesday with third place playing sixth and fourth playing fifth. The Cobras are on track for a bye and the Bobcats are in contention for a playoff spot.

Originally scheduled for today, the junior cross-country divisionals for the St. Timothy High School have been postponed to a later date. It will likely take place later this week or early next week. The team, though, held their regularly-scheduled practice this morning.

With a change in weather anticipated, next week's junior and senior city championships likely won't be impacted, nor will the ASAA southcentral cross-country zone finals.

In the Black Cup of the Calgary United Soccer Assoc., the Cochrane Rangers Firsts had their third game postponed. The Firsts upset Cruzeiro, 4-2, in Game One but fell to the heavily-favored Foothills Premier team 11-1 in their second match. They play Scimitar next.

The Rangers O35 team handily won their first game, 7-3, against the Scimitar Blizzards in John Burns Memorial Cup play. Game Two against the Scimitar O45A team was postponed.

New dates hadn't been announced at this writing.
