For the past month, Mayor Jeff Genung and local MP Blake Richards have been exchanging friendly shots on who will raise the most money in the bike-a-thon.

We'll find out who landed the knockout blow tomorrow, Sunday, July 3, at the bike-a-thon wrap-up celebration at Cochrane Toyota, starting at 12 noon.

To kick off his campaign, Richards produced a video and later on resorted to standing in the House of Commons to promote his fundraising campaign, although it was largely aimed at the importance of developing the trail between Cochrane and Calgary.

Not one to shy away from a toe-to-toe matchup, Genung swept aside the jab and insists the day will be his.

Those wanting to help the mayor win can send their donations here.

Richards produced a video accepting the challenge, especially since it wasn't about speed or distance. Mayor Genung is a seasoned triathlete.

"I love the idea of that challenge because, on a bike, I'm not sure I can win, but on the fundraising side, I think we can give him a run for his money."

There's still time to get behind Blake by donating here.

Sunday, we'll have an answer to this question and more.

There are draws, prizes for fundraising, free food, and updates from Sport4Life on Cochrane's bid to be named Most Active Community.

Some major trail project updates and funding announcements are also expected.

All are welcome to attend.
