Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for Cochrane and surrounding areas on Tuesday afternoon.

Cochranites could be seeing winds that top off near 100 km/h, which is 10km/h faster than the wind warning we received last week.

Environment Canada warns that winds speed this high can cause trees to lose branches and to watch out for loose objects.

Wind warnings are issued when there is a risk of damaging winds, the gusts are expected to subside early this evening.

The warning affects the following areas.

  • Rocky View Co. near Cochrane
  • Mountain View Co. near Olds and Didsbury
  • Mountain View Co. near Carstairs and Stirlingville
  • Mountain View Co. near Cremona and Water Valley
  • Mountain View Co. near Sundre
  • Rocky View Co. near Airdrie and Crossfield
  • Rocky View Co. near Bottrel and Madden
