It is a perfect example of the past and the present working together. The Cochrane Historical Museum wants to let Cochrane and area know that there is a new display at the Cochrane Museum. It can be viewed virtually.

Through the latest technology, you are able to visit the Cochrane Historical Museum and its exhibits on a virtual 360 degree tour.

The latest exhibit features the Role of the Horse in Cochrane and area. Focusing on the working and sport horses. Lynne Ferguson with CHAPS (Cochrane Historical Archival and Preservation Society) says, "We've featured exhibits on the working and sport horses. We've been able to do a lot of research get some original photographs, get some trophies. We even have a little display on blacksmithing. We have something on the war horse contribution."

Did you know that Cochrane once had a very popular racetrack? In 1922 over 2000 people attended the Cochrane Race Meet. A grandstand was built in 1925 and you can view an accurate diorama of the facility on the virtual tour. This is just a small sample of the interesting information that can be found on the virtual tour.

The active volunteers have done a wonderful job on the various displays at the museum and the virtual tours are available to everyone including students.

Speaking of volunteers, Ferguson says," It is a great group of volunteers and we are always looking for new people to help us out." Lynn adds that they are also always looking for artifacts to display in the museum and perhaps local families have something they would like to donate or lend to the museum to add to the experience.
