Free pizza, video games, and..laughter yoga?
The Recharge: Youth Wellness Event is shaping up to be the ultimate spot for Cochrane youth/teens to relax, recharge and have fun.
The free event tomorrow (Friday, May 13, 2022) afternoon is for anyone between the ages of 13-17. Starting at 2 p.m. at Spray Lake Family Sports Centre, it's been brought together as a collaboration between Cochrane & area BGC, MHCB, Stepping Stones to Mental Health, and Cochrane FCSS- Community Helpers program.
Nola Hume, BGC Manager of Youth Programs says the event is packed with options for everyone "Some of the things that they're going to get to do are creative writing session, and making nature mandalas. We're doing candle making, bath bombs, facemasks, Mala bead jewelry, some expressive arts."
"There's also going to be gaming as kids just want to do a little bit of gaming while they're there"
Hume says everyone will be leaving with a smile.
"We're going to wrap it up with laughter yoga sessions."
"It's not like traditional yoga, you don't need a yoga mat. There's actually laughter yoga facilitators and you just are gonna have to come with an open mind and willing to laugh a lot.
"It's just going to end the event on such a high note."
Families can drop their preteens/teens off at this event and return at the end for pick up. The event will have pizza and snacks on site and anyone without transportation can reach out to BGC for COLT assistance.
