Members of the Big Hill Haven Board graciously accepted a cheque from Canlin Energy Corporation at the end of January.
Annually, Canlin Energy is allocated money from their corporate budget to spend in the areas they operate, shares Kaili Dale, the Operations Administrator for Canlin Energy . "For the Wildcat Hills office, we reach as far north as Sundre and as far south as the Vulcan medallion area so we get allocated an 'X' amount of budget in the areas that we operate."
Dale, says when they grant money to an organization they really look for an initiative that will be a long term benefit to the overall community. "When we think of community investment we really want to think of things that are longstanding, so when we heard about Big Hill Haven we thought it was very fitting."
Valerie Gilmore, Secretary for Big Hill Haven shares being backed by the community is extremely important. "Support from our community is vital for us. We are all about Cochrane and surrounding area and we want to give back to help our citizens. We have received incredible support in all forms from the community and we are constantly blown away and in awe of the support, we have received thus far."
Gilmore says the monies received will help them reach their end goal faster. "The funds will be put towards hiring a part-time person to help us with applying for grants to assist as much as possible with building the shelter."
Giving back to the community is important to Canlin Energy, states Dale, and they will continue to help invest in meaningful projects. "As a business we live and operate in the area, so it is very inportant piece to invest and give back to our community. We appreciate a good relationship with the community and stakeholders and it is just our way to give back and invest where we live. We love being able to do what we do and things like Big Hill Haven, the Cochrane Food Bank, and the differenrt areas we can help out makes us feel like we are part of the community."
