Pre-competitive and competitive dancers from both Eurhythmics Dance Studio and Snap Dance Studios will take to the stage beginning tomorrow (April 5) until Saturday (April 8).

Dance Invasion is one of the larger festivals attracting roughly 1500 dancers from 14 different studios in and around Calgary as well as Central and Southern Alberta.

Jodi Aasen, Eurhythmics Dance Studio owner/instructor says the dancers have worked quite hard since their previous festival in mid March and she has confidence they will all perform to the best of their ability. Each competition/ festival provides a learning experience for the dancers.

"They will have new adjudicators and see/meet many more dancers. This providing the opportunity to get different and more feedback from other adjudicators. We value the adjudicator's feedback, but also try to remind the dancers that it's only their opinion. As long as the dancers had fun on stage and performed their best for the audience, then they have accomplished their goals. It's not about the medal, it's about sharing your love for dance and sharing it with other dancers from other studios.

Alison Stutz, Snap Dance Studios, Studio Manager, says their dancers just had rehearsal over the past weekend and they were extremely proud of how hard the dancers have worked to nail down their routines. Like Aasen, Stutz says placing high at competition is not the priority.

"Of course, doing well is wonderful, but it's about the hard work, teamwork and commitment they show all year and the sportsmanship and life lessons they learn at competition that are most important to us."

Dance Invasion will be held at RockePointe Church in Bearspaw.
