Students of two local high schools are coming together to lace up their skates and raise funds for the Cochrane Activettes Food Bank.

The 16th annual Cochrane Classic Hockey Game is being held on Wednesday, Feb. 13 between the Bow Valley High School and Cochrane High. Game time is 4 p.m. in Totem One of the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre.

The game is highly anticipated each year and it's especially enjoyed by grade 12 students, who make up the bulk of the players on the ice.

"The grade 12s really look forward to this event, It's a big deal to them," says Cochrane High instructor Lisa Gordon Reece, who is involved with CHS Leadership.

"A lot of the kids are friends, so it's a nice event for everybody to come out and enjoy. It's always a good time."

Fundraising for the food bank has been stepped up this year. In addition to funds raised from the $2 admission fee and 50-50 raffle, players will be collecting cash donations prior to the event. Additional donations to the food bank will also be accepted at the game.

The SLSFSC continues to generously donate the ice rental for the classic.
